CAN THE MUSIC SAVE YOUR MORTAL SOUL?

EddieSki -- Music, opinion, and bullshit...

It was acceptable in the 80's...

People say the 90's was like a really long hangover after the 80's. I think that's bullcrap. The 90's was the fuckin' party. The 80's was the pre-game. The only thing the 80's were good for was giving birth to those who made the 90's badass as hell.

And The Wonder Years.

Whatever-we're-calling-the-2000's have just sucked. We've had what, bands with numbers and exclamation marks in their names and shit? No. We're in the hangover ladies and gentlemen. And hopefully it ends soon. Please, God let it end soon.

I mean, really. What bands that came out in the last nine years that will be considered classic in the future? Linkin Park came out in 2000. But they're horribly overrated now. They get classic status because Hybrid Theory was freakin' amazing. I still love "In the End." There's also Okay Colplay. I'll give you that. Even though I can't stand 'em. Gnarls Barkley had a good first album, but far from a classic band.

And speaking of hangovers, The Hangover was pretty good. Superbad was better, but at least it wasn't bucktarded like some of the other comedy movies to come out recently. And yes, I said bucktarded. I can't stand that short guy on So You Think You Can Dance. "That's buuuuck." He's like a fuckin' Pokémon, that's all he says.
Stu: You do know counting cards is illegal, right?
Alan: It's not illegal, it's just frowned upon. Like masturbating in an airplane.
Phil: I'm pretty sure that's illegal, too.
Alan: Counting cards isn't illegal. It's frowned upon, like masturbating on an airplane... Maybe since 9/11 when everyone got so damn sensitive. Thanks a lot Bin Laden!
And I can help but think rap is like 80's. Shits and giggles, baby.

Shits and giggles.

Rock and Roll used to make a statement; now it's just the same regurgitated crap that all seems to sound the same. There are a few exceptions to this statement, but I've found they are more likely to turn up on the alternative radio stations than on the heavy-metal stations. That's ok - I've outgrown the latter (for the most part)anyhow. The DJ's bombard us with an overdose of stupidity & adolescent testosterone infused with a heavy helping of vulgar "humor", so it doesn't surprise me that the music has been almost equally dumbed-down. It's got to be some sort of conspiracy!

Haha, it's gotta be! I think some of the music now is good or okay. But its just not timeless. I get sick of it after its been on repeat 20 times.

There is some great music to be found, but you certainly won't find it on the billboard charts, American Idol, or on the MTVVVVVVV.
